The grand celebration continues for three long days, filling the atmosphere with electrifying emotions of patriotism. On the 29th of January, it is concluded with the Beating Retreat.

A award ceremony is also organised every year on Republic Day. The brave hearts who have performed outstanding deeds of bravery and displayed the spirit of self-sacrifice for the sake of the nation’s welfare are honoured with Param Vir Chakra, Vir Chakra, Ashok Chakra, Kirti Chakra, and Mahavir Chakra by the government of India.

Every year India hosts the head of a state or government of a foreign nation as the guest of honor for Republic Day. This practice dates back to 1955, when the Republic Day’s parade was organised for the first time and was witnessed by the first chief guest Malik Ghulam Muhammad, the then governor of Pakistan.

The Constitution of India is the supreme law of the country.
