India is all set to rise high in Tokyo Olympics 2021. Like every other nation in the world participating in the Olympics, India has also set very high expectations from its players. Although records of India are not very appealing at the Olympics, it definitely has raised its bars.

The subtle yet remarkable growth is the outcome of India’s sport’s enthusiasts’ hard work, consistency, and dedication.

Intending to highlight the promising candidates of this session of summer Olympics, here is the list of our hand-picked choices to look out for:-

Mirabai Chanu – India’s Most Promising Olympics Candidate

She is one of the most promising candidates for the Tokyo Olympics 2021. She is the only athlete to take part in a weightlifting event from India. In the 2014 commonwealth games, she won silver and then outshined her performance by winning gold at the world championships and the 2018 commonwealth games. She currently ranks number 2 in 49 kg categories.

Vinesh Phogat

She is the first Indian wrestler to qualify for Tokyo Olympics 2020. She is going to be one of the most resilient competitors in wrestling. Her records include a maiden World Championship medal in the women’s 53 kg category. She bagged a bronze medal by pinning Maria Prevolaraki. She is the first Indian female wrestler to win a gold medal at the last Asian championship.

PV Sindhu

The lady needs no introduction. She has been a reason for pride for India for several years. Yet, again India is setting its hope high from the start. Being a terrific Badminton player, she bagged a silver medal in the Rio Olympics back in 2016. Her current BWF reading is under 10.

Mary Kom – Last Chance at Olympics

Being India’s veteran boxer, she remains another promising candidate for gold for the country. Considering this will be her last shot at Olympics, as she will be surpassing the eligibility for her age, we are sure Mary Kom will put her best foot forward. She has recently won the silver medal in the Asian boxing championship in 2021.

Manu Bhaker

Just a 19-year-old kid but too hard to handle. Not we, but her records say so. She has won 2 gold medals at the 2018 ISSF world cup, which made her the youngest Indian player to achieve that. She is a nine-time gold medalist at the ISSG world cup.

Victories are not born in fields, but are created through years of hard work and dedication. Players burn midnight oils to add fuel to their performances. India is all set to welcome home the medals and the appreciation.
